Q. What is the easiest and least expensive way to visit Alaska?
A. Commercial jet service to Anchorage, Alaska is usually the fastest and least expensive travel mode.

Q. How many hours by jetliner allows access to Alaska, and what do round trip tickets cost?
A. Most major cities in the lower 48 can access Anchorage in 4-10 hours; round trip air tickets usually range from $400-$900 dollars per person (Expedia.com and Priceline.com have good prices).

Q. What is the best time to visit us in Alaska?
A. We operate May-September: May is our spring; June-August is our summer; and September is our fall in Alaska.

Q. Does what species of fish I wish to pursue dictate when I should visit Alaska?
A. Yes, check our fishing calendar on our web site for the best months for your fish species.

Q. What do I need to bring when coming to Alaska?
A. Bring the normal personal items you would take on a vacation; we advise bringing layered warm clothing, and light rain suits for our typical 50-75 degree weather. Our sun greatly dictates temperatures, and you may even get too warm when the sun is out; clouds usually cool temperatures quickly, causing you to need your layered clothing.

Q. What if I do not like fishing?
A. Many of our guests participate in sport fishing, even though they do not normally fish at home. Our guided fishing trips allow novice anglers to enjoy a fishing adventure with even the most experienced fishermen. We have guests who allow other party members to pursue other exciting activities that are readily available on the Kenai Peninsula.

Q. Do I need to bring any fishing equipment?
A. No, we provide all the fishing equipment, boats, bait, and your fishing guide. Yes, you can bring your own fishing equipment if you desire too.

Q. What do I do with any fish I catch?
A. You can release any fish you catch on our trips; however, our fish in Alaskan waters provide excellent dining experiences. We have three local fish processors who can prepare your fish for the trip home.

Q. What if we do not wish to use one of the suggested packages?
A. We can usually design a custom package to better fit your interests— whether it is one day or a couple weeks.

Q. Do I need to make advance reservations?
A. Advance reservations are advised, since many choice dates fill-up well in advance of our upcoming season.

Q. What if I have questions that have not been addressed in our FAQ section?
A. Please call 907-262-1324 or you can email me at freetochoosealaska@hotmail.com with any questions.
